If you think tattoos rock you should watch Eastern Promises. The movie has as one of its central themes, Russian mafia tattoos. The film was produced in 2007 and was nominated for an Oscar for Viggo’s performance in the film.

When this movie came out everyone in the biz was buzzing about it and rightfully so the film is gritty and hard hitting, with a great twist half way through.

If you haven’t seen it you need to peep it.

The story goes as follows a Russian teenager gviggo-mort31305076_f520ives birth and dies leaving the baby motherless. A midwife who helped with the birth finds herself in the middle of a Russian Mafia prostitution ring. Sounds like your typical Disney movie, eh?

Viggo Mortensen is Nikolai, a driver for the London based Russian Mob boss, ready to do anything it takes to become a made man in the Russian Mafia.

Now the Question is: Who put all that work into Viggo and the cast of “Eastern Promises?”

Answer:

Oscar winning makeup artist, Stéphan Dupuis created the compelling tattoos for the film’s stars – especially for Mortensen, whose character Nikolai has to engage in a violent bathhouse brawl while completely nude. Dupuis is known for his make up work on Jason and Poltergeist.

Although some of the tats on Viggo were fake here’s a fun fact he has a “H” tattooed on his wrist in honor of his son who used to as a baby scribble the letter “H” on him.
